INSIDER REPORT: Pelosi's 'Path to Yes'

The following post is an email from the Office of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) received by Grassfire staff on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 9:08 a.m. ET:

Speaker Pelosi has been claiming she’s on a “path to yes” to bringing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to the House floor for a vote, but the only thing she’s been saying “yes” to lately is abusing her power to undo the will of the voters in the 2016 election.

It’s been nearly a full year since President Trump signed a new trade deal with the President of Mexico and Prime Minister of Canada. What does the Democrat-controlled House have to show for itself during that time? They have issued more subpoenas than they have written laws. Just last week the Speaker told Bloomberg News that she now “wouldn’t rule out” a vote on USMCA…"next year.” It has been long enough and there are no excuses left. House Democrats have again prioritized politics over bettering the future of our country.

To be clear:

Mexico has ratified USMCA.

Canada is waiting for America to ratify USMCA before ratifying it themselves.

Here are the facts: Our current trade rules are outdated and USMCA offers a real chance to modernize the way America trades, build an economy that is fairer for the American worker, and strengthen our hand in future trade negotiations with China.

It is time we put the nation before petty partisanship and give the USMCA the up-or down vote that hardworking Americans deserve.
